This site is a tribute to Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) colleague Tom Heywood who sadly passed away just before Christmas 2023.
Tom had been with the ambulance service since 1999 and undertook various roles working across A&E Operations, the Clinical Directorate and the Pathways Team, as well as with other healthcare providers.
Latterly Tom was based within the Quality Improvement Team and was pivotal to supporting improvements across the Trust, as well as the wider healthcare system.
He was committed to supporting his friends, colleagues and the teams he worked with and gave his time freely to all who sought it. His passion for inclusivity led him to be the first Chair of the YAS Disability Network and the Deputy Chair of the National Ambulance Disability Support Network.
Tom was an empowering leader and was held in the highest regard by his colleagues. He leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity and knowledge which is testament to his distinctive character.
Our deepest sympathies are with his wife, son, friends and colleagues at this extremely difficult time.
